The DC Water & Sewer Agency (DC Water) continues to plan for a major sewer rehabilitation project in Glover Archbold Park. This park is directly adjacent to The Towers Condominium Association east driveway. The proposed Glover Archbold Park sewer project will involve the rehabilitation of the sanitary sewer from Van Ness Street, NW to Canal Road, NW.
DC Water submitted a Draft Environmental Assessment to the National Park Service for review on January 30, 2017. The environmental assessment discusses the environmental impact of the alternatives for renovating this important sewer line. DC Water is responsible for operating and maintaining sanitary sewers in the District of Columbia, but the land in Glover Archbold Park is owned by the National Park Service. The buried sewer line runs adjacent to Foundry Branch, a creek that also runs through the park.
The sewer system in Glover Archbold Park was built about 100 years ago and will be reaching the end of its useful lifespan in the next few years.
