The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is scheduled to begin the construction phase of the Ward Circle Full Signalization Project on Monday, June 4, 2018. The construction is expected to take about 12 months. Some of the key improvements of the project are:
- Full rebuild of all traffic signals with ADA compliant design including ramps and accessible pedestrian signals
- Signalization of Massachusetts Avenue approaches along with pedestrian signals at the crosswalks
- Blank-out LED signs to reinforce the left turn restrictions from the inner lanes of the circle
- Ward Circle will be repaved at the end of the project
This work aligns with the overall goals of the project, which are to improve safety for all users, including drivers and pedestrians, and to promote orderly traffic flow. The construction work will be done during non-rush hours only. There will be no work during rush hour or at nighttime. There may be some Saturday work. For further information, please click here.
